That little game called Exalted

Exalted is great imho. What i really like are the Games of Divinity, a heavenly x-box for the gods. The idea struck me as fun, so heres my version:

Clavier Succor heartens its users. It gives them a form of relief from their woes and woves a story with familiar elements.

An older god selects them as their successor and they must save the world to become a a god again. The other elements of the story, the rivals, the loved ones, the others are second stringers in this quest. Its all about the ego of the user.

Unfortunately such artifacts as Clavier Succor are forbidden from common use because of their warped addictive effect. Its possible to ride the high with a second user or multiple ones though, while the original user acts as a nexus. This ends the warranty of the original rather fast thou.

Magic Ilnesses musings

So, reading about the Stormlight Archive(neat series, magic returning and a secret story going on in the verses shared background) has delved into psychic ilnesses developing or starting by beeing connected to Cognitive Realm. This in turn warps the users, making them more invested into their powers intent. This is very similar to Sorcerously Advanced with the Self overcoming ones psyche. The difference is that by cutting the power off, investeds can regain their own original self. This is rather extreme in the case of cutting oneself off from f.e. War. Can the Gift itself be supressed enough to provide therapy? Are there even methods of willing supression via Communion?

Are there potential bioweapons from way back then, so integrated into the users psyche that they themselves have gained the Gift? If so, whats their take on becoming autonymous?

Just some thoughts, its quite possible im way off base here.

When the gift happened, it seemed to happen to all the basins at once, but did not touch those in afterlives, does the gift effect beings that are in A basin but not their original basin? what about hybrid species that could probably have been made with pre-gift magic?

What exactly are dragons? there are implications they are sapient, with their resentment towards the gift in one area of the world, are they from elsewhere in the Kaleidoscope? outsiders? or perhaps just Gods.

What limitations to volition do outsiders without the gift have?

Can a God be given the gift? presumably it would no longer be a god.

Can you give the gift to a curse?

do mystic servitors have sovereignty (presumably, you could give it that part of the gift if they don't, but do they have it naturally?)

Some of these feel like questions that would be best answered in play, as part of a plot, but others, like the mystic servitor sovereignty and level of volition of outsiders seem important to establish. I might have misread something.

It would be interesting to see how a magical singularity would affect our world and to see the results after five centuries. It seems to me that the scientific method would lose a lot of prestige although it would still be utilised in low-flow areas as non-magic technology and engineering would be more reliable than magic there. I envisage high-tech enclaves surrounded by the new magical societies that have arisen.

The Fellowship Of Truth

It occurs to me that the Fellowship of Truth is what the Order of Hermes from "Ars Magica" would become if all the mundanes suddenly got magic. Despite the advantages of immortality (the passing of time and the race of magi to perfect their arts before death is a definite part of the AM game experience), the pre-Interregnum wizards lost a lot of their power and mystique. They also likely laboured greatly over their lore and magic. Now it's something even a child or the village idiot can do. These mighty mages were no longer special. Even four hundred years later they're still sulking.

This horde of unread, filthy, smelly peasants must be stripped of their magic so that Magick (note the capital M, note the K!) can once more be the sole preserve of the deserving, be in the hands of responsible, trained and educated wizards who have had a proper apprenticeship and everything. Well, good luck with that, Voldemort.

So what I'm saying is that the members of the Fellowship of Truth are basically magical fanbois, purebloods to use JK Rowling's term (I'm trans and she has greatly disappointed me). They have that sense of entitlement. There's a reason that the term muggle is so often used in many fandoms to describe non-fans or newbies. Thus the behaviour of toxic fans in real life and elitist wizardly cabals in fiction can be used as approximate models for the general mindset of the Fellowship of Truth.
