I'm happy to say that I've found some publicly-licensed fonts to replace my old standbys.
Optima is getting replaced with Linux Biolinum in my projects going forward. I've always loved Optima's weird home halfway between serif and sans-serif, and Biolinum is near-identical to Optima but free. I'm not going to strip Optima out of SA2, but if there's ever an SA3, it'll likely use Biolinum as the body font.
SsA is using Garamond No 8 as its body font. It's more stylized than Times and TNR, but it stopped before it became Didot or Trattatello. There are many Garamond variants, this one is free.
Headers in SsA are in Breamcatcher, also free.
The drop caps are in Mistral, which is commercial, but I might see if I can find a good replacement for that. Also looking for a good Type Embellishments equivalent, and considering replacing Copperplate in SA as well.
Those of you who are extremely font-aware may have noticed a few minor shifts in this site as the primary font goes to Biolinum instead of Optima, but I'm not using webfonts so you may still be seeing the whole thing in Helvetica or Arial.
