This is a good quick elevator pitch for this games magic, but personally i always liked worlds where scientific approach worked.

Its also a plot hook for a conspiracy to bring upon a mind capable of doing exactly this, a kind of an magic fueled AI.

Part of the reason Sorc's world is ascientific is because I was trying to have a specific, deep, clear division between science and magic. I didn't want to create a game where magic was "just another kind of science", I wanted to make it something different entirely.

Personally, I too prefer to live in a world where science works. :)
