There are countless situations in which appearing to be rich and famous is more important than actually being rich and famous. Fortunately, semiotics is here to help. Certian characteristics, body language tags, outfitting, manners of speech, etc., will convey a sense that you are famous and important, and although most people won't know who you are they'll often as not assume that they should and behave as if you were someone of significance.
Anybody attempting to contest you in a Fast Argument while you are using Semiotic Fame must spend a Reserve just to make the attempt. However, you are utterly unable to conceal yourself in a group of people while using this - everybody will know where you are, and more than likely a good deal of knowledge about you has just become public. Those who frequently use this will be unable to spend Reserve to contest a Research Blitz about themselves.
Note that the reverse technology, semiotic obscurity, also exists, and convinces people that you're nobody special. This forces anybody trying to gain any information about your activities while using this technology from a Research Blitz to have to spend a Reserve just to make the attempt, but while you are using it you will have to spend a Reserve in order to initiate a Fast Argument.
