So, brought my SA book to Games Club on Saturday so a friend could look at it. Temporalsis noticed the book and thought; I should run a one-shot! The guy looking over the book thought it might be fun to do a Darwinist, so we did a villians run. Me, being me, still want to play the with the Nanori more, and once I started to think about how a Nanori Darwinist could be, got hooked. Here's what I got, and it's rather grand. I also apologize for the mediocre organization, I'm not entirely sure how to present everything.
IN THE HISTORY BOOKS:
Shiva, Satan's Gardener - As dubbed by the popular press, "Shiva" is a psychopathic Darwinist who functionally obliterates entire worlds. His MO is to infiltrate local Darwinist and Organized Crime groups as a sleeper agent (programmed by himself), awakening the true personality here and there to properly set things up for his real agenda, which is nearly always counter to the criminal's aims and usually too much even for Darwinists. The method of attack is invariably combination nano/bio diseases, phages, etc, designed along clearly both Nanori and Darwinist principles. The actual death rate from the diseases themselves is low, 5-10%, but, as the plagues invariable include mutation accelerators, many people die because of the alterations to their bodies that allowed them to survive the initial infections. The base technology for his plagues, etc, is what amounts to weaponized Nanori "terraforming" techniques, which are themselves based upon weaponized bacteria and nanites.
The moniker "Shiva, Satan's Gardener" was given after the press learned of his nationality and interviewed prominent Nanori for comment. To the Nanori, Shiva is paradoxical. On the one hand, they abhor the death, destruction and misery caused by his methods, on the other, many wonderful technologies have come from the ensuing "devil's garden" that in some cases may have saved more lives in the end than they cost.
Shiva has never issued a statement to the press, and is in fact known for removing, burning or otherwise completely destroying the episodic memory of those who encounter him to protect his anonymity, as world-destroyers "must" in order to stay "free" - after all, when you kill a world, lots of people get angry. To further protect himself, Shiva will disappear after a strike for anywhere between 20 to 70 years.
Finally, Shiva is such a relations nightmare for the Nanori that in order to sate the anger and fear of the other civilizations, they have grudgingly inflicted upon themselves to civilization-wide anti-Darwinist mimetic indoctrination.
FROM HIS OWN EYES/WHAT THE PRESS DOESN'T KNOW:
Shiva sees himself as a messenger of God, an angel of "his" holy will. This is further reinforced by the simple fact that there are Transcendentals and he has yet to be caught, yet has such huge and deadly effects.
The deployed "package" consists of new home-grown combination nano/bio phages (Nanori technology and beliefs hold that there really isn't much of a difference between the two) designed to result in about a 70-90% death rate, but they are always packaged with various "medical" lifeforms. The relatively high survival rate and aftermath is due to this latter element; the "medical" forms are designed to alter the populace's body in unpredictable and varied ways in their attempts to survive in the new environment. Generally, these succeed in allowing the host and the plagues to come to forms of symbiosis, and generally, these forms of symbiosis aren't survivable in the context of the larger world.
He does not care about individuals, he barely cares about survival of the fittest for elements of humanity. He is working on simultaneously a larger and smaller scale; populations are his "resource" and fundamental biochemical alteration is his goal.
In this way, he attempts to satisfy the Darwinist belief in the survival of the fittest while adhering to the Nanori style and beliefs of cultivation. Solidatary manifests in that he will never divulge who helped him to do anything he has ever done (aided by his complete disregard for fame). Burning one's episodic memory is how he attempts to eliminate individual threats without removing an obviously fit specimen from the gene/meme-pool; what is essential to you from Evolution's perspective will survive, but nothing else.
In the Rules:
I had a helluva time codifying this guy in terms of the rules, and I don't really feel a need to post them. Needless to say, he's got maxed nano/bio, very high nano/bio engineering, a hefty dose of spy and criminal professions, with a seasoning of wilderness survival. Additionally, he's picked up metatech engineering so that he can make his own sleeper agent lenses and predict social movements to best take advantage of them for his own purposes. As a PC, I gave him Plot Immunity 4 - Long Laid Plans because I felt it was the most appropriate.
Poke me with questions, etc, so I can do an edit.
Also, we all hope to post a write-up of the one-shot, which I'll comment from Shiva's perspective.
