I've been reading Flashman by George McDonald Fraser. It leads to a meta question - what are the majority of the Tao entertainments like? I imagine that the famous and critically acclaimed reenactments are serious detailed, drawing on the classics, historical and archeological sources.
Then there are the others- The equivalents to The Tudors (or worse) Xena Warrior Princess, Flashman, Sharpe and Judge Dee. A lot of fun, not very serious (at least outside of their circles of fans and authors).
For some reason this strikes me as a very fun idea, especially if you get into the additional six thousand years of history of the setting.
