There are three works of this franchise I'd say are best known. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's, and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Strikers. But the reason I'm actually putting this down as inspirational material? The TSAB(Time Space Administration Bureau). Outside of conventional Earth and under their sway, it's basically a sci-fi setting where the Phlebotinum is magic. Mid-Childa(The World/Magical Society of the TSAB's origin), was built in the ashes of two other Magical Civilizations that destroyed themselves. Al-Hazred and Belka. And they left a lot of artifacts/ancient weapons that can be threats to the general population behind. A sizable chunk of the Bureau's remit involves destroying these artifacts or ensuring they are properly contained. The series uses this as a backdrop for aerial wizard fights with highly destructive but non-lethal lasers. Also lots of making friends after such fights. It seems like could be some thematic overlap between the TSAB and the Archive.
The magic(for those with a linker core, which is rare on Earth but not the case elsewhere), is highly mental math oriented. The equivalent to a wizards staff is basically a telepathic calculator/computer.
